Pressure packing—Bolted to the crank end of the cylinder and to the head end, of a tail rod cylinder (used in high-pressure applications to help with crosshead pin reversal). The pressure packing case flange will typically have the following connections:
- Cooling water inlet and outlet
- Lubrication oil connection(s) (plugged for nonlubricated compressors)
- Vent and drain connection
- Purge inlet connection
- Threaded connection for packing case temperature instrument
